Ask a new question. I have upgraded my PC from Windows 8. I had selected the option to upgrade my current OS. I want to know that how can I get my Windows 10 product key for the same? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

User Replied on August 3, Hi Sumit,. I would like to inform you that if you have upgraded Windows 10 from Windows 8. When you try to install Windows 10 from a bootable media DVD which is downloaded you will get two option one is Custom and other one is Upgrade. For Windows 8. If you want to perform clean installation then I suggest you to select Upgrade option while installing Windows 10 and upgrade from the Desktop and activate the Windows 10 upgrade and after that perform clean install.

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool. I used the First Option. The installation files were downloaded on my hard drive and the upgrade process started. After upgrading, i downloaded windows 10 installation files using the same tool as stated above and created a bootable USB drive. Suppose my hard drive has crashed and i want to reinstall windows 10 on my new hard drive.
What will be the procedure for the same? During installation, would I be asked for a product key? If yes, where would i get my product key? I am still smuggling with these answers. All are close, but not quite what I'm looking for. I started my reserved Win10 upgrade. In the process the upgrade crashed my disk and would not recognize any boot device. During the upgrade I selected the disk format option required since the failed install occupied most of the disk space.

In reply to sumitsmehta's post on August 3, I would like to reply to this, even though it is old. That should be the red flag that says it isn't meant for a clean install on a Windows 8 machine. This site in other languages x.
